A Message From JOHN C. BRAUER, M.A. President and CEO – Nov 2021
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Dear Friends,
Thanksgiving is always a good reminder to take a moment to express gratitude to those around us, especially to those who make the world brighter through their acts of kindness and compassion. This year, I want to say a special thanks to our many supporters and stakeholders. Your investment in New Horizons, be it financial, as a volunteer, by hiring one of our Members, serving on the NH Board, Emeritus group or on a committee, or attending one of our events (or in many cases through multiple connections!), is truly felt and appreciated. Your belief and support of New Horizons makes all that we do possible!
It is such a personal blessing to work here at New Horizons. To be an active part of supporting our Members as they chart their life path is beyond words. It wasn’t that long ago that it was an anomaly to have someone with special needs working independently or living on their own. Now, not only is that commonplace, but it’s expected, and while everyone’s journey is different, the goal of helping each person achieve his/her/their own personal best is the common thread that runs throughout the agency.
Finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t thank the wonderful and caring staff here at New Horizons. This team goes above and beyond every day, often before they have even had their morning coffee. While many jobs may be described as “9-5,” working at New Horizons isn’t like that. It is not uncommon for me to hear one of our Direct Support Professionals say that they had an idea over the weekend while taking a shower about how we can improve our services or serve a Member better. For them, thinking about our Members at all hours is just something that comes naturally to them. That kind of dedication is rare, and we are very lucky to have such a caring team of professionals.
From all of us here at New Horizons I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving, and please accept my sincere thanks for the magic that you bring into our lives.
With Respect and gratitude,
John Brauer, CEO
