New Horizons, a non-profit serving individuals with special needs for nearly 65 years, seeks self-starters to be in various departments including Residential Living, Community Living, and Employment Services.  The work we have available is in the San Fernando Valley area. 

All Driving Positions

  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Must have a valid California Driver License and driving record acceptable to our insurance carrier
  • Must be legally driving for at least 3 years in the United States
  • Must successfully pass all pre-employment requirements, including background check, drug screening, and physical

Available Positions

Custodial Training & Site Coordinator

(Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:30 pm (flexible))

The Custodial Training Coordinator oversees training of consumers at the New Horizons campus site, providing them with the skills and supports they need to graduate from New Horizons and move into competitive independent employment. Additionally, the CTC is responsible for  maintaining clean, well-maintained buildings and grounds in and around the New Horizons campus.

Sam’s Café Food Service & Banquet Hall Worker – Level 2

(Part-time, 30 hours/week, 10:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday (flexible))

The Sam’s Café Food Service and Banquet Hall Worker coordinates and maintains daily operations in Sam’s Café.  Complies with New Horizons’ policies and procedures on customer satisfaction and service excellence. Works effectively and collaboratively with others toward common goals.

Life Skills Instructor / Mentor

(Part-time: Flex hours-7 days a week.  Various shifts available during the week and/or weekends may include overnights /early mornings)

Assist individuals living independently with basic self-help skills, house-keeping/meal preparation along with socialization activities.  Aid individuals with developmental disabilities with their basic self-help skills, and oversee and participate in basic housekeeping and meal preparation duties.  Additional requirements are: ability to pass a criminal background check; and have access to a car with acceptable driving record.
Driving at least 3 years in the US.

Community Support Instructor

(Part-time: Flex hours-7 days a week.  Various shifts available during the week and/or weekends may include overnights /early mornings)

The Community Support Instructor (CSI) provides instruction, coaching, assistance, support, and advocacy to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities that are transitioning from the Work Services program into volunteer settings and inclusive community activities.  The CSI-Level Two serves as the Team Lead for assigned community sites including the transportation of consumers to and from the site.  Additional requirements are: ability to pass a criminal background check; and have access to a car with acceptable driving record.  Driving at least 3 years in the US.

Community Living Services Coordinator

(Non-exempt, hourly flexible schedule)

Conducts quality assurance consumer home visits to ensure Life Skills Instructors are providing quality services to consumers in the community in a home of their own. Oversees caseload of 10 to 15 consumers; directly supervises and schedules the staff assigned to provide life skills instruction and/or supportive living services. Provides direct care services up to 30 hours per week. Supports and serves as back-up to Community Living team members.

Community Day Services Administrator

(Full-time: 8:00am to 4:30pm – Monday through Friday)

The CDS Administrator will work in partnership with the Community Day Services Director to coordinate and oversee the day-to-day business operations of New Horizons Day programs.

Special Events Assistant / After-Hours Worker

(Part-time: Flex hours – Shift begins as early as 5:00am and ends as late as 2:00am)

The Special Events Assistant performs tasks associated with a variety of special events at Sam’s Café and occasionally off campus.

Monarch Mobile Day Program Staff

(Part-time: 9:00am – 12:00pm/ 1:00pm – 4:00pm – Monday through Friday)

Provides on site, in-home/residence training, assistance, supports and education regarding service options, rights and responsibilities. The services are based on the Individual Program Plan and formatted to increase the abilities of the individual to move to a less restrictive program and/or environment. (Maybe a Certified Nurse’s Aide.)
