New Horizons, a non-profit serving individuals with special needs for more than 60 years, seeks self-starters to be in various departments including Residential Living, Community Living, and Employment Services.  The work we have available is in the San Fernando Valley area. 

All DRIVING POSITIONS : * Licensed Driver (for at least 3 years) with less than 2 points on driving record.

Employment Positions Available

SENIOR DIRECTOR OF EMPLOYMENT SERVICES

(Full-time)

Senior Director of Employment Services oversees and drives the vision for all employment-related services provided by New Horizons.  Promotes practices and policies that supports the full inclusion of individuals with disabilities in the community.  Develops and maintains business and community relationships that mutually benefit individuals with disabilities and business/community partners. Oversees the operations of the Employment Services Department, that includes program evaluation; budget development and administration; CARF compliance; Title XVII and NLACRC contract compliance; staff training; and liaison to other departments and outside agencies.


DIRECT SUPPORT CARE/CAREGIVERS

(Part-time: 7am-3pm, Sat/Sun; 3pm-11pm, Sat/Sun; overnights, Sat/Sun)

And other shifts as needed.Assist residents to succeed in a residential home by teaching them personal living skills, and joining them in group activities. Comfortable with all aspects of adult hygiene. Must have ability to drive 8-passenger van. Additional requirements for this position are: pass a criminal background check. Have access to a car and an acceptable driving record.  Driving at least 3 years in the US.


LIFE SKILLS INSTRUCTOR/MENTOR

(Part-time: Flex hours-7 days a week.  Various shifts available during the week and/or weekends may include overnights /early mornings)

Assist individuals living independently with basic self-help skills, house-keeping/meal preparation along with socialization activities.  Aid individuals with developmental disabilities with their basic self-help skills, and oversee and participate in basic housekeeping and meal preparation duties.  Additional requirements are: ability to pass a criminal background check; and have access to a car with acceptable driving record.
Driving at least 3 years in the US.


Job Coach

(Part-time: Flex hours-7 days a week.  Various shifts available during the week and/or weekends may include overnights /early mornings)

Provides instruction, coaching, assistance, support, and advocacy needed by individuals with developmental disabilities (consumers) to successfully work in a community job setting.  Additional requirements for this position are: ability to pass a criminal background check; and have access to a car with acceptable driving record.  Driving at least 3 years in the US.


Job Developer

(Part-time: Flex hours-7 days a week.  Various shifts available during the week and/or weekends may include overnights /early mornings)

Develops individual and group job placements in community employment for adults with developmental disabilities (consumers).  Additional requirements are: ability to pass a criminal background check; and have access to a car with acceptable driving record.  Driving at least 3 years in the US.


Community Support Instructor

(Part-time: Flex hours-7 days a week.  Various shifts available during the week and/or weekends may include overnights /early mornings)

The Community Support Instructor (CSI) provides instruction, coaching, assistance, support, and advocacy to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities that are transitioning from the Work Services program into volunteer settings and inclusive community activities.  The CSI-Level Two serves as the Team Lead for assigned community sites including the transportation of consumers to and from the site.  Additional requirements are: ability to pass a criminal background check; and have access to a car with acceptable driving record.  Driving at least 3 years in the US.


Paid HR Internship – 3 Months – September – November 3oth

(Part-time: Flex hours-7 days a week.  Various shifts available during the week and/or weekends may include overnights /early mornings)

The HR Intern assists with Human Resources responsibilities as assigned, with special emphasis on recruiting functions.  The HR Intern may perform clerical, data entry, receptionist, special event, and administrative functions in accordance with skill level.  The HR Intern may serve as back-up to the Receptionist and supports the HR Team as needed.
