Here at Big Sunday we’re accepting donations of all kinds of new and gently-used clothes, as well as bottled water and Gatorade for firefighters.

Baby2Baby is accepting donations to support children impacted by the wildfires.
SPCALA’s Disaster Animal Response Team is seeking donations to support emergency services, such as temporary animal shelters and front-line
veterinary care.
The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundationis accepting donations to support firefighters on the front lines. The foundation is seeking monetary donations, wildland brush tools, hydration backpacks and emergency fire shelters.
The California Fire Foundation is looking for donations to support surviving families of fallen firefighters, firefighters and the communities they serve.
World Central Kitchen, spearheaded by chef José Andrés, has a relief team in Southern California to assist first responders and families. The organization is accepting donations to support the ongoing relief effort.
The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is accepting donations and looking for volunteers.
Direct Relief is also accepting donations to support those impacted by the wildfires.
Community Organized Relief Effort, or CORE, is accepting donations to support wildfire victims.
The Red Cross is looking for monetary donations as well as blood and volunteers.

Insurance Tips

Making You Whole Again.

The California Department of Insurance has teams ready to assist evacuees and people impacted by wildfires. Residents under mandatory evacuation because of wildfire could be eligible for evacuation-related expense reimbursements under their current insurance policy. Additional Living Expenses coverage typically includes food and housing costs, furniture rental, relocation and storage, and extra transportation expenses, among other costs. Showers and Phone-Charging Stations

Westwood Recreation Center (1350 S Sepulveda Blvd 90025) is open for evacuees and accepts small animals. It also serves as a shelter, allowing residents to remain overnight.

VCA is offering free boarding for displaced pets.
LA County Animal Care and Control(661-940-4191) is offering shelter and resources for displaced pets and livestock.
Canine Rescue Club finds temporary homes for displaced pets.

Emergency Housing

Airbnb is partnering with 211LA to identify residents needing temporary housing and helping connect them to Airbnb stays. These efforts are specifically focused on residents who have either lost their homes or have been forced to evacuate due to the fires. You can request assistance for temporary housing by visiting Airbnb.org or contacting 211 LA by dialing 2-1-1 or visiting this page.
You should also be aware that it is against the law for hotels to increase rates due to increased demand from fire evacuations. Discover Los Angeles has shared a list of hotels that are available for displaced people and families.

Food

Here are 47 restaurants offering free meals and/or discounts to fire evacuees and first responders.

Transportation

Metro is still operating despite the fire and wind conditions. To better serve residents in need of travel, fares have been free since Wednesday. However, there are some closures and service changes. Click here to learn more and see if fares continue to be free tomorrow.
Uber: Residents in Los Angeles County who’ve been ordered to vacate their homes can get a credit from Uber to get to an evacuation site. The $40 will only be valid for trips to an active shelter and by using the code WILDFIRE25.
Lyft: Lyft announced it will be offering $25 vouchers, valid for two trips, to 2,000 customers from now until midnight on Jan. 15. Use the code CAFIRERELIEF25 to get the promotion.
In addition, a number of roads, including several major highways, remain closed. Check theCalTrans District 7 Twitter page for the latest updates on freeway closures. NBC 4 also is frequently updating its list of closures, which includes some smaller roads.

Air Quality and Smoke

The smoke from the fires is impacting many people who are in no immediate danger from the fires. The most important piece of advice is to stay inside with windows and doors closed as much as you can in order to avoid exposure to irritants and toxic chemicals in the air.
