Summary
Provides instruction, coaching, assistance, support, and advocacy needed by individuals with developmental disabilities (also known as consumers and Members) to successfully work in a community job setting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Helps orient the member/consumer to the work setting.
- Supports the Member by developing a task analysis (daily work schedule) that identifies all of the job duties that must be completed during the work day.
- Trains the Member/consumer to complete their assigned job duties up to employer expectations.
- Teaches the Member/consumer appropriate work place behavior and attitudes.
- Assists the Member/ consumer in developing relationships with co-workers.
- Provides whatever moral support and encouragement, instruction, coaching, counseling, mentoring, and advocacy the person may need to succeed in their job.
- Assists the Member/consumer in developing goals for the Individual Habilitation Services Plan (IHSP).
- Assists the Member/consumer in achieving the goals identified on their IHSP.
- Participates in the Member’s/consumer’s IPP meeting.
- May be required to transport and accompany Members to job sites utilizing agency vehicles, including driving an 8+ passenger van/vehicle
- Must complete New Horizons Driver’s training and receive safe driver’s certification by the agency instructor within 90 days of employment.
Other Duties & Responsibilities
- Completes all paperwork, documentation, or progress notes timely and correctly.
- Attends meetings and trainings as directed.
- Supports the Agency’s mission and partners with others to accomplish the mission.
- Maintains the highest professional and ethical standards at all times.
- Performs additional duties, as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

The individual must have a reliable vehicle, proof of vehicle insurance, a valid California Driver License, and a driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier.
Education and/or Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent; one year of experience working with adults with developmental disabilities is preferred.
Language Skills
Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in English.
