Price Gouging Prevention Update – Stay Vigilant

Amid the heroism displayed during the ongoing fires in the LA area, we are also witnessing unethical and illegal activities. It’s important to stay vigilant. Assemblywoman Pilar Schiavo and other local leaders are working to protect consumers from price gouging during this emergency.

What You Should Know:
California law prohibits price increases of more than 10% during declared emergencies. Violators can face fines up to $10,000, one year in jail, or both.

If You Encounter Price Gouging, File a Complaint:

Attorney General’s Office: (800) 952-5225
LA County Consumer Affairs: (800) 593-8222
City of LA: Call 311
File Online: Price Gouging Complaint https://oag.ca.gov/

For more information, visit CalOES – Price Gouging https://www.caloes.ca.gov/ or contact Assemblywoman Schiavo’s office at (661) 286-1565.

Let’s work together to protect our community from exploitative pricing.
