Job Coach – GoGrocery

Job Title:                    Job Coach (Grocery)

Reports To:                Senior Director of Employment Services (temporarily) & Employment Services

Provides instruction, coaching, assistance, support and advocacy needed by individuals with developmental disabilities (consumers) to successfully work in a community grocery job setting.


  1. Orients the consumer to the training and work setting.
  2. Develops a task analysis (daily work schedule) that identifies all of the job duties that must be completed during the work day.
  3. Assists the Grocery Training Manager in running the training components, work experience and coaching support related to the grocery industry.
  4. Completes weekly progress notes and other documentation, as assigned by the Grocery Manager.
  5. Trains the consumer to complete their assigned job duties up to program outcome and employer expectations.
  6. Teaches the consumer appropriate work place behavior and attitudes.
  7. Assists the consumer develop relationships with co-workers.
  8. Provides whatever moral support and encouragement, instruction, coaching, counseling, mentoring, and advocacy the person may need to succeed in their job.
  9. Assists the consumer develop goals for the consumer service plan (IHSP).
  10. Assists the consumer achieve the goals identified in their IHSP.
  11. Participates in the consumer’s IPP meeting, as necessary.


  1. Completes all paperwork, documentation, or progress notes timely and correctly.
  2. Attends all scheduled meetings and trainings as directed by the Grocery Manager and Senior Director of Employment Services.
  3. Conducts self professionally and with ethical standards at all times.
  4. Believes in and supports the agency’s mission. Works effectively with co-workers, consumers and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner; listens to and objectively considers ideas and suggestions from others; keeps commitments; keeps others informed of work progress, timetables and issues; addresses problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical solutions; addresses others by name, title or other respectful identifiers; and respects the diversity of the New Horizons workforce in actions, words and deeds.
  5. Performs additional duties, as assigned.


This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

The individual must have a reliable vehicle, proof of vehicle insurance, a valid California Driver License, and a driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier.


A high school diploma or equivalent; one year of experience working with adults with developmental disabilities is preferred.


Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in English.
