Summary
The CLC Curriculum Specialist and Resource Developer is responsible for designing and developing meaningful curriculum to fulfil Person-Centered Plan for each Member. The position is responsible for developing a variety of volunteer and recreational opportunities for Members in the community. The CLC Curriculum Specialist and Resource Developer will work with Member Services Coordinators (MSC) to match Members to compatible volunteer sites and fulfilling social/ recreational activities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Curriculum Specialist:
1. Designs, develops, and implements training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for Members.
2. Updates training, instructional, and curriculum materials on a consistent basis.
3. Develops measurement tools to evaluate the effectiveness of instruction or training interventions.
4. Collaborates with Member Services Coordinators and Direct Support Professionals to obtain their input and feedback to ensure full knowledge of the Members’ likes, dislikes, interests, personal preferences, physical and cognitive abilities.
5. Assist with development of Member’s learning and performance objectives and updates curriculum as needed.
6. Compiles periodic reports that outline successes, constraints, and the way forward.
7. Engages local community resources to identify volunteer, social, and recreational opportunities enabling Members to become active members of the wider community.
8. Creates a portfolio of resources, including the range of activities available within the learning hubs and the local community.
9. Regularly reviews Members’ needs, the program of activities, and levels of participation, in order to evaluate effectiveness of the curriculum.
10. Organizes activities/outings with consideration for safety and staffing requirements.
11. Regularly assesses the effectiveness of curriculum and modifies curriculum and community resources as needed to ensure its continued positive impact on the lives of the Members.
12. Promotes Members’ participation in activities.
13. Trains, monitors, and provides ongoing support to Direct Support Professional with respect to curriculum implementation.
14. Prepares an engaging and creative monthly activities calendar which incorporates the communities’ events for Members who are onsite, and Zoom activities for Members receiving virtual supports.
15. Procures supplies for all activities in accordance with budget. Effectively manages supplies to ensure resources are available to fulfill the person-centered plan for each Member.
16. Effectively manages supplies to ensure all learning hubs are adequately stocked.
17. Serves as a back-up to MSCs and DSPs as needed.
18. Conducts instruction delivery evaluations, analysis, and recommendations for improvements.
19. Maintains current knowledge of and proficiency in relevant technology including but not limited to the use of Zoom, Teams, Facetime applications.
20. Conducts outreach efforts to a variety of organizations to foster volunteer opportunities.
21. Coordinates visits to volunteer prospects to determine what training opportunities may exist and the site’s compatibility with the Members’ needs.
22. Maintains a database of volunteer contacts.
23. Maintains on-going communication with volunteer sites and collaborates with the sites to resolve any issues.
24. Works closely with MSC’s to ensure that Members are well matched to volunteer activities and environment.
Other Duties & Responsibilities
1. Participates in cross-training opportunities and support for essential programs.
2. Provides consultation and assists with curriculum development to other programs as needed.
3. Maintains the highest professional and ethical standards at all times.
4. Supports the Agency’s mission and partners with others to accomplish the mission.
5. Participates in agency-wide and department-specific trainings.
6. Performs additional duties, as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job does not direct supervisory responsibilities. The position provides ongoing feedback, coaching, instruction, and training to DSPs to ensure effective implementation of the curriculum.
Qualifications

The individual must be proficient in the use of agency-provided devices, such as Surface Pro tablet, and in the use of applications such as Outlook, Teams, Google docs, Zoom, GoToMeeting, scheduler, Member database, and other applications as directed.
The individual must knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, learning styles and techniques. The individual must have basic knowledge of and be able to demonstrate appropriate communication and interaction styles for individuals with special needs. The individual must have excellent oral communication skills. The individual must have excellent writing skills to complete required reports and documentation. The individual must have excellent time management and organizational skills; must be a team player; must be able to work collaboratively with MSCs, programs and departments; must maintain the highest professional and ethical standards at all times.
The individual must have a reliable vehicle, proof of vehicle insurance, a valid California Driver License, and a driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier.
Education and/or Experience
Associate degree from a community college or bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university preferred; or four years of related experience and/or training in curriculum development; or equivalent combination of education and experience; experience working with adults with developmental disabilities is preferred.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret in English professional journals, technical procedures, and funding regulations. Ability to write in English instructional materials, reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in English and respond in English to questions from groups, staff members, vendors, volunteer site representatives, governmental agencies, Members, and the general public.
