Summary
Serves residents in an intermediate care facility supervising their daily activities and assuring that their needs are met. Observes residents, records, and reports any physical or emotional irregularities to the QMRP. Assists with personal hygiene of residents as needed. Assists with and supervises basic self-help skills. Gives guidance to residents regarding desirable health, hygiene, and appropriate behavior. Chaperones, participates in, and initiates social activities and discussions with family and group. Participates in and oversees basic housekeeping duties in the home and surrounding premises. Transports residents to medical and other appointments or activities as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Organizes day-to-day household management, which shall include: menus, food
preparation and nutrition (with consultation from the facility’s dietician), housekeeping, laundry, chores, purchasing and budget control (under the direction of the QMRP), maintenance needs and transportation. Performs routine and incidental job duties as required. - Participates as a member of the IPS/T in the development of the ISP.
- Keeps anecdotal progress notes current and complete including any progress made on ISP objectives and any other information pertinent to the health and well being of each individual resident.
- Assures that all requirements for active treatment are met in providing day-to-day training and supervision with the residents.
- Works closely with many professional consultants who have direct input into the consumers’ ISP.
- Participates in initial and ongoing training. There will be monthly in-services and weekly meetings with the QMRP.
- Develops working knowledge of all the applicable regulations of Title 22 pertinent to the position.
- Supervises and is responsible for the performance of the Home Manager Assistant(s).
- Responsible to see that medication is administered and charted according to procedure.
- Sees that all medical problems are immediately brought to the attention of the QMRP and the facility nurse.
- Maintains adequate fire, health, safety and welfare standards of the home and its surrounding areas according to Title 22. Conducts and documents monthly fire drills.
- Conducts tours of the home as directed by the QMRP.
- Disperses client P&I funds with approval from the QMRP.
- Provides a home-like, client centered atmosphere using appropriate techniques in training and positive approach to behavior management as set forth by the members of the IPS/T. Implements self-help/independent living skills and recreation/leisure time skills programs as per the TSP.
- Reinforces appropriate dress and social behavior in the community.
- Attends weekly staff meeting with the QMRP.
- Responsible for other duties that may be assigned from time to time..

- Attends meetings as directed by the QMRP.
- Supports the Agency’s mission and partners with others to accomplish the mission.
- Maintains the highest professional and ethical standards at all times.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises about five employees in the Residential Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications

Must have a valid California Driver License and good driving record. Must have current First Aid Certification. Must be willing to work weekends.
Education and/or Experience
The Home Manager is a live-in position. This position requires one of the following: Psychiatric Technician License or Licensed Vocational Nurse; 6 months experience working with the developmentally disabled and 300 hours working in social
services, or 18 months experience working under a Qualified Mental Retardation Professional (QMRP). Will be required to take medication training program (provided by the facility nurse) in order to administer client medication.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend in English simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write in English simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present in English information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
