ABC Channel 7 Eyewitness News Reports: Cool Kid Juliane Martinez helps those w/ special needs at New Horizons!

We know we have the best volunteers, now the community knows, too! ABC-TV’s Eyewitness News visited our campus on Wednesday, January 4, to do a story on a high school volunteer that’s making a difference.

No surprise they chose Juliane, from High Tech LA, who has been a volunteer/intern with New Horizons for the last 6 months. She volunteers in the Achievement Center, Technology and Media Arts Department, and in Sam’s Cafe, helping to prepare our delicious cookies. Her goal is to be a Psychologist. In sharing her story with ABC-TV she made it clear that working with our clients has taught her a lot and helped her to discover herself while confirming what her future goals will be.

The story will be part of ABC Cool Kids program which offers a scholarship fund for participating students.  New Horizons’ segment aired on Thursday, January 5 at 4:00pm and again on Sunday, January 8 at 9:00am.  To see it, click here!

If you’d like to learn more about volunteer opportunities at New Horizons, contact Shade Mokuolu, Community Engagement Manager, at 818-221-0651 or .
