New Horizons and The Campbell Center Announce Merger to Enhance Services for Individuals with Disabilities
In a move poised to reshape the landscape of disability support services, New Horizons: Serving Individuals with Special Needs and The Campbell Center announce their merger, effective Monday, May 13th. This dynamic partnership marks a transformative moment in the field, uniting two San Fernando Valley based non-profits that each have served the neurodiverse community for 70 years. Together they possess extensive expertise and the shared ambition to deepen their impact and innovate support services to advance the rights and life choices of a fast-growing number of individuals and their families.
“At the heart of this merger is our unwavering commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities,” John Brauer, CEO of New Horizons. “Together, we will leverage our combined strengths to broaden our reach and pioneer innovative solutions that empower individuals to lead fulfilling lives.”
The now combined entity plans to develop new programs tailored to meet the unique needs of different demographics within the disability community. These initiatives will invest in supporting individual goals, including those of high school students transitioning into adulthood, young adults seeking housing and employment in the community and the evolving needs of aging participants. Operationally, the expanded organization will improve efficiency, enhance sustainability and leverage resources and strategies to improve staff training and leadership development.
The Campbell Center will maintain its name in honor of its legacy to its founders Phyllis and Jerry Campbell, and retain its commitment to serving adults in the City of Glendale under its new classification as a Division of New Horizons.
“We plan to build a foundation for services that will support the needs and aspirations of all those we serve for years to come,” says Muhannad Malki, The Campbell Center Chairperson.
During this transition, there will be no disruptions for employees or individuals availing services from either organization. Both organizations are committed to ensuring a seamless transition and will actively engage stakeholders in the integration process.
New Horizons and The Campbell Center would like to thank Envision Consulting and Nonprofit Sustainability Initiative (NSI) for the valuable role they played in orchestrating the successful merger. Their efforts provided a pivotal step forward in advancing the shared mission of empowering individuals to reach their full potential.
